15-day Safari and Adventure in Uganda

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. 

On Day 1 of your 15-day safari and adventure in Uganda, you will be picked up from your accommodation in Kampala or Entebbe by your tour guide and driver. The pick-up time will depend on your location, but it's usually in the morning after breakfast.

You will arrive at Murchison Falls National Park in the afternoon, and you will check in to your accommodation, which will be either a lodge or a campsite, depending on your preference. You will have some time to rest and freshen up before going on an evening game drive. 

The game drive will take you through the park's savannah grasslands, where you will have the opportunity to spot a wide range of wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, hyenas, and more. Day 2: Murchison Falls National Park – Game drive and launch trip.

On Day 2 of your safari, you will have the opportunity to explore Murchison Falls National Park through a game drive and launch trip. Here's what you can expect: Game Drive: Your day will begin early in the morning with a game drive through Murchison Falls National Park. 

This is the best time to see wildlife as animals are most active during the cooler hours of the day. You will be accompanied by an experienced guide who will help you spot the animals and provide you with interesting information about the park and its inhabitants. 

During the game drive, you will have the opportunity to see a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, and hyenas. You will also have the chance to see smaller animals such as warthogs, bushbucks, and waterbucks. Murchison Falls National Park is also home to over 450 bird species, so you will have plenty of opportunities to spot different bird species along the way. 

The game drive will take you through different areas of the park, including the grasslands, woodlands, and riverine forests. You will also pass by different bodies of water, including the Victoria Nile, which is a major highlight of the park. Launch Trip: After the game drive, you will head to the river for a launch trip on the Victoria Nile. 

The launch trip is a great way to see the park from a different perspective and to spot different animals that you may not have seen during the game drive. You will also have the opportunity to see the famous Murchison Falls from below. During the launch trip, you will be accompanied by a guide who will point out different animals and birds along the way. Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park.

On Day 3 of your 15-day safari in Uganda, you will leave your accommodation in Murchison Falls National Park after breakfast and begin your journey to Kibale Forest National Park, located in the western part of Uganda.

 The drive from Murchison Falls National Park to Kibale Forest National Park is quite long and can take anywhere from 6 to 8 hours, depending on the route and the road conditions. Along the way, you will pass through small towns and villages, and you will have the opportunity to see the Ugandan countryside and the rural way of life.

 As you travel further west, you will notice a change in the landscape, from the dry savannah of Murchison Falls National Park to the lush green forests and hills of Kibale Forest National Park. You will pass through tea plantations and rolling hills, and you may even see some wildlife along the way, such as monkeys or baboons. Upon arrival at Kibale Forest National Park, you will check into your lodge or campsite, where you will spend the night. 

Kibale Forest National Park is known for its chimpanzee tracking, and you will have the opportunity to go on a trek to see these intelligent primates up close on Day 4 of your safari. In the meantime, you can relax and enjoy the serene surroundings of the park, or take a walk around the nearby villages to get a sense of the local culture and way of life. You can also opt to go bird watching or take a nature walk to see some of the other wildlife that call the park home, such as baboons, colobus monkeys, and forest elephants. Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park.

The activity usually starts early in the morning, around 7:00 am, with a briefing at the park headquarters. You will be assigned to a group of up to eight people and allocated a guide who will take you on the chimpanzee tracking experience. The guide will give you a brief on the park rules, dos and don'ts, and provide you with all the necessary information regarding chimpanzee behavior, habitat, and tracking. 

Once you're ready, you will set off into the forest with your guide in search of the chimpanzees. The tracking can take anywhere from 1 to 4 hours, depending on the location of the chimpanzees and the difficulty of the terrain. Kibale Forest National Park is a dense tropical rainforest, and the terrain can be steep and slippery at times, so a moderate level of fitness is required. 

When you finally encounter the chimpanzees, you will have one hour to observe and take photos of them from a safe distance. It's essential to keep a distance of at least 7 meters away from the chimpanzees to avoid any potential risk of disease transmission or harm to the animals. 

During your one hour with the chimpanzees, you will have a chance to see them in their natural habitat, doing what chimpanzees do, such as grooming, feeding, playing, and socializing. You will learn about the behavior of the animals, their hierarchy, and how they interact with one another. 

After your one-hour observation, you will begin the trek back to the park headquarters, where you will be issued with a certificate of achievement for successfully tracking chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park. These may include taking a game drive to spot wildlife, going on a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, or even taking a guided walk through the park's forests and grasslands. Alternatively, if you're staying outside of the park, you may have the opportunity to explore nearby attractions such as the Ishasha sector, which is known for its tree-climbing lions, or the Kyambura Gorge, which is home to a population of chimpanzees. 

In the evening, you'll have dinner at your accommodation and can relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Depending on your interests, you may choose to participate in a night game drive or enjoy a cultural performance by local communities. Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Game drive and launch trip Along Kazinga Channel 

On day 6 of your itinerary, you will embark on an exciting game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. This park is located in western Uganda and is one of the most popular safari destinations in the country. It is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, hyenas, and many more. 

The game drive typically starts early in the morning, around 6:30 or 7:00 am, as this is the best time to spot wildlife when they are most active. You will be accompanied by a trained guide who will help you navigate through the park and point out the different animals you see along the way. 

During the game drive, you will explore different areas of the park, including the Kasenyi Plains, which are known for their large herds of buffaloes and elephants, and the Mweya Peninsula, where you can spot lions and other big cats. You may also come across different species of antelopes, warthogs, and baboons. After the game drive, you will take a break for lunch before heading out for a boat ride along the Kazinga Channel.

After breakfast, the travelers will pack their bags and bid farewell to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey towards Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park will be via the Ishasha sector. 

This route is known for its unique wildlife, especially the tree- climbing lions that are a major attraction. During the drive, the visitors will have the opportunity to spot these majestic creatures lounging on the branches of fig trees.

Golden monkey trekking is a popular activity in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, where visitors get to spend time observing these playful primates in their natural habitat. 

The golden monkeys are found in the bamboo forests of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and are known for their bright orange-gold fur, which shines brightly in the sunlight. These monkeys are social animals, and visitors on a golden monkey trek can expect to see them play, jump from tree to tree, and feed on bamboo leaves.

One of the main attractions of Lake Bunyonyi is the opportunity to take a boat ride to one of the many islands on the lake. One popular island to visit is the Punishment Island, where unmarried girls who became pregnant were abandoned to die in the past. The park is located in central Uganda, and it's a five-hour drive from Lake Bunyonyi. On day 12 of your itinerary, after breakfast, you'll leave Lake Bunyonyi and head to Lake Mburo National Park. 

The journey from Lake Bunyonyi to Lake Mburo National Park is quite scenic, and you'll pass through the beautiful landscapes of western Uganda. You'll have the opportunity to see small villages and towns along the way and witness how the local people live their daily lives. 

The journey takes about five hours, so you'll arrive at Lake Mburo National Park in the afternoon. Once you arrive at your accommodation in Lake Mburo National Park, you'll have some time to rest and freshen up before embarking on a game drive later in the day.

The journey will take around four to five hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. 

As you leave the park, you'll enjoy scenic views of the countryside, including rolling hills, small villages, and plantations. Along the way, you'll pass through Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. Kampala is a bustling city with a vibrant culture, and there are many things to see and do here. 

You can choose to stop for lunch in one of the many restaurants or cafes in Kampala, where you can sample some of the local cuisine. Day 14: Jinja City Uganda.

On day 14 of your trip, you'll have the opportunity to experience the thrill of white water rafting on the Nile River. This exciting activity will take you through some of the most beautiful parts of the river, where you'll experience rapids of varying difficulty levels. 

White water rafting is a fun and thrilling activity that is suitable for both beginners and experienced rafters. Your rafting guide will provide you with all the necessary safety equipment, including life jackets and helmets. They'll also give you a safety briefing and instructions on how to paddle and maneuver the raft through the rapids. Day 15: Return to Kampala / Entebbe International Airport.

On the last day of your 15-day safari and adventure in Uganda, you will return to either Kampala or Entebbe International Airport depending on your travel plans. This day will be mostly dedicated to transportation, as the distance between Jinja and these two locations is quite significant. 

If you are flying out of Entebbe International Airport, your tour guide will ensure that you arrive at the airport with ample time to catch your flight. However, if you are staying in Kampala for a few more days, you will be dropped off at your hotel. Before leaving Jinja, you may have some time to do some last-minute shopping or sightseeing. 

Jinja is known for its outdoor activities such as bungee jumping, white-water rafting, and kayaking, so you may want to squeeze in one last adrenaline-filled experience before you leave. If you prefer to take it easy, you can visit some of the local markets in Jinja, where you can purchase souvenirs, crafts, and handmade items. 

You can also visit the Jinja Sailing Club or take a stroll along the Nile River, which is one of the longest rivers in the world. During the drive back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport, you'll be able to take in the beautiful Ugandan countryside one last time.
