In Uganda, the Equator is a significant geographical marker. The Equator is an imaginary line that divides the Earth into two equal halves, the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere. It's located at 0 degrees latitude and is known for its unique characteristics, including the fact that it's the point on Earth where the sun is directly overhead at the equinoxes.

In Uganda, the Equator holds cultural and touristic significance. There are often markers or monuments indicating its location, and visitors often stop at these points to take photos and experience the unique sensation of being at this important geographical line. Additionally, there are sometimes tourist attractions, such as shops or demonstrations showcasing the effects of being on the Equator, such as the Coriolis effect. Uganda lies astride the equator in eastern africa between longitudes 29 east and 35east and between latitudes 4 north and south, at an average altitude of 1,100 meters above sea- level. the total area is 236,580sq.km.

Yes! With effect from March 1, 1999, the Government of Uganda introduced visa requirements for all visitors entering Uganda. 

However this is in exemption of the following countries: East African Community (EAC) Citizens Nationals of COMESA countries( Angola, Comoros, Eritrea, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Madagascar, Rwanda, Seychelles, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe) Other countries e.g. Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Fiji,Gambia, Grenada, Jamaica, Lesotho, Malta, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, Tonga, Vanuatu, Italy (Only diplomatic passports) and Cyprus.

Gorilla tracking is limited to only 18 people per day and the permits are available only for people above 18 years. These can be obtained from the Uganda Wildlife Authority.

Mountain gorillas can be found in both bwindi impenetrable forests and mgahinga gorilla national park, all found in the western part of uganda.
